Every week, Spill It is where the conversation gets real — and this week, it got deeply personal in the most beautiful way.
A listener asked:
“Should I tell my college-aged kids that I’ve had cosmetic work done?”
And I loved this question… because it isn’t really about injections or surgery.
It’s about shame.
It’s about truth.
It’s about what we model.
It’s about how we teach our kids to exist in their own skin.
There is a very old idea that women are supposed to:
look amazing
never age
never change
never “admit” we got help…
and if we do, we’re supposed to hide it.
And that idea has hurt generations of women.
In this Spill It, we talk honestly about:
• why secrecy reinforces shame
• how pretending creates unrealistic expectations for daughters and sons
• why honesty is emotionally freeing
• and how owning your choices is one of the most powerful forms of self-respect you can model
Because here’s the truth:
There is nothing shameful about wanting to feel good in your skin.
There is nothing shameful about making choices that support your confidence.
There is nothing shameful about caring for yourself.
And when we tell the truth, we teach our kids:
that aging is real
that self-care is valid
that confidence isn’t a crime
that honesty is strength, not confession
We don’t owe the world explanations.
But we also don’t need to hide.
And maybe the most empowering thing you can do for your kids…
is to let them see a woman who tells the truth, owns her choices, and stands proudly in them.
The party may be over.
But honesty, dignity, and emotional freedom?
They are fully alive.
