# Episode 113: Spill It "Should Commitment Come Before Intimacy?"

This is one of the questions I hear more than almost any other — and it came up again in this episode of *Party’s Over*:

*If a woman wants marriage or a long-term partner, should she wait for commitment before having sex?*

It’s a loaded question, because it touches everything: desire, fear, timing, self-worth, and the very real concern of “What if I scare him away?”

In our **Spill It** segment, **Spicy Mari** gave an answer that cut through all the noise: **women need to date according to the season of life they’re in**.

### **Dating by Season, Not by Fear**

If you’re in a season of exploration, fun, or freedom, that’s not wrong — as long as you’re honest with yourself. But if you’re in a season where you want commitment, partnership, or family, your behavior has to support that goal.

Hope is not a strategy.
Ambiguity is not romance.

And avoiding clarity doesn’t protect your heart — it delays the truth.

### **Commitment vs. Exclusivity**

One of the most important distinctions Spicy Mari made is between **exclusivity** and **commitment**.

Exclusivity can still be vague. Commitment is clear.

Commitment sounds like:
*I’m responsible for how I treat you. I’m choosing you. I’m building something with you.*

Without that clarity, intimacy often creates emotional attachment without emotional safety.

### **The 90-Day Framework**

Spicy Mari’s 90-day framework isn’t about punishment or manipulation. It’s about **observation**.

Can someone show up consistently?
Can they invest emotionally without shortcuts?
Can they commit before access?

If someone disappears because you ask for clarity, that’s not rejection — it’s information.

And information is power.

### **What This Is Really About**

This isn’t about rules. It’s about **self-trust**.

When women say they’re afraid to ask “What are we?”, what they’re really afraid of is losing something that isn’t actually secure.

Clarity doesn’t ruin real relationships.
It reveals whether one exists.

And if that clarity leads to an ending, it frees you to find the relationship that can actually meet you where you are.
