Episode 123: Do You Know Your Love Language… And Does Your Partner Know It Too?

Written by Sandra Silverman | Feb 8, 2026 9:11:30 PM

Let’s talk love — not the fantasy version, not the Instagram version, not the “everything is perfect” version — but real love. The kind that requires understanding. The kind that requires communication. The kind that requires effort.

In Part B of Episode 123 of Party’s Over, Erica and I dive into The Five Love Languages, and I’ll be honest — this topic matters more than most people realize.

Because love isn’t just about feelings.
It’s about delivery.

We Don’t All Feel Loved the Same Way

Gary Chapman’s Five Love Languages outline how people best receive love:

  • Words of Affirmation — “I’m proud of you.” “You matter.” “You look amazing today.”
  • Acts of Service — Help, support, partnership, responsibility.
  • Receiving Gifts — Thoughtful gestures, symbolic reminders of affection.
  • Quality Time — Undivided attention, connection, presence.
  • Physical Touch — Affection, warmth, physical reassurance.

Here’s where relationships break down:
We often give love in the way we want to receive it… not in the way our partner actually needs it.

And that mismatch can cause distance, resentment, and emotional loneliness — even in relationships that “look fine” on the outside.

Small Shifts Can Change Everything

In this episode, Erica and I talk about how tiny changes can completely change connection:
💬 A sincere compliment
🤝 Helping without being asked
🎁 A thoughtful surprise
🕰 Spending real time together
💞 Simply reaching for your partner’s hand

It’s not about perfection. It’s about intention.

But Love Languages Aren’t Magic

They aren’t a quick fix.
They aren’t a “relationship Band-Aid.”
They don’t work unless both people care enough to show up.

And sometimes, the hardest truth is this:
If someone refuses to learn how to love you, it isn’t because the concept is complicated.
It’s because they don’t value the relationship enough to try.

That’s real talk.

Here’s What I Hope This Segment Gives You

Clarity.
Understanding.
Permission to speak your needs.
And the courage to expect mutual effort.

Because you deserve to feel cherished.
Not tolerated.
Not half-loved.
Not “sort of okay.”

Loved.
