Episode 121: Makeup Confidence, Toxic TV, and “Do Real Men Get Procedures?”

Written by Sandra Silverman | Feb 8, 2026 8:55:13 PM

Every once in a while, we do an episode of Party’s Over that feels like a full emotional makeover — and Episode 121 is one of them. We talk beauty. We talk truth. We talk vulnerability. And we talk about how women are constantly navigating what’s real, what’s edited, and what actually helps us feel better in our lives.

Let’s Start with Makeup — But Not Vanity

We brought on professional makeup artist Natalie Ruiz, and she didn’t just talk about contouring and brows — she talked about confidence. About feeling polished without spending an hour in the mirror. About simple placement, small techniques, smart SPF, and realistic beauty that supports life instead of performing for it. Makeup shouldn’t be a mask. It should be empowerment. It should be choice. It should be joy.

Then… Let’s Talk About Toxic TV

From there, we shifted into a completely different kind of “face”—the one people are pressured to present on reality television. Former Real Housewives of DC cast member Mary Amens joined us to talk about what it really felt like to live inside a show designed for spectacle. We talked manipulation. Pressure. Persona-building. The expectations that follow you into real life. And the emotional price women pay when the world thinks your story is theirs to edit.

Reality TV may be entertaining — but it also raises important questions about identity, grace, and the way the world consumes women’s lives.

Spill It… and Oh Yes, We Spilled

And then in Spill It, you asked the question so many women secretly wonder…

👉 Do “real men” get procedures? Should I encourage my husband?
Short answer? Yes, men absolutely get procedures. Longer answer? Be careful. Once you open that door, you may be opening much more than you expect — emotionally, relationally, and practically. We talked truthfully about insecurity, confidence, ego, aging, and love… and why sometimes the issue isn’t the procedure, it’s the conversation underneath it.

What This Episode Is Really About

Confidence.
Boundaries.
Self-image.
Truth.
Compassion.

Whether we’re talking about makeup, TV narratives, or bodies — this episode is about choosing yourself, telling the truth, and staying grounded in a world that constantly wants to define you.
